Botswana was in the middle of a heatwave

Hyena Pan was lovely. Botswana was in the middle of a heatwave that made the tents impossible to be in but thank God for the swimming pool!

Con- Far from game viewing, not sure it was worth it but we got to see wild dogs! All of our drives were outside of the private reserve so quite long to get to and from.

Pro- The staff was amazing and went out of their way to accomodate our requests. We had Russel who was the most amazing guide and really added to our trip. We do hope to keep in touch with him.

Con/ Pro- I think it would have been great if Expert Africa asked if we wanted a private or group safari. This was our first group safari so the time table was dictated to us. That being said we met amazing people, obnoxious people, and hilarious people we otherwise would not have met. Tons of stories to tell :)

Pro- The watering hold at hyena pan bringing the elephants up close and personal.

Pro- We felt away from it all which was nice.

Many Elephants at Hyena Pan

The location is good. Our safaris were a bit mixed up. We started with one driver (we were alone) that was not our as good as we would hope. Then we changed to another group and the driver was excellent and enjoyed the other guests. Then were transferred to another another truck for our trip to the sky camp which we did the same stop at the elephant dugout which we had previously done. We waited in the truck but were told it would be until sunset (several hours) so we requested to be taken to sky camp. We were taken but with consternation. Could have been smoother, felt like we were getting whipped around a bit. Sky Camp was fun.

A relaxing camp - Hyena Pan

We had a lovely time here. The elephants were close by when we arrived even blocking our way to our tent. They were also frequent visitors to the camp both in the daylight and in the night. A hippo was also seen wallowing in the water too but he stayed submerged. We also saw zebra, buffalo,a lion and some wild dogs.

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere here as the staff were attentive without hovering unnecessarily.

Our guides were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It is good when the guides remember to speak to guests when the vehicle is stopped rather than when the vehicle is moving. It would have been good to have seen the hide too.

Great wildlife camp in Okavango

Plenty of wildlife here, particularly around the camp waterhole. Friendly, helpful staff. This a drier area of the outer Okavango Delta, but well worthwhile.
