"A hugely enjoyable trip which will live long in the memories. Namibia proved to be a friendly and welcoming country and it was easy to travel around with our kids who met plenty of other children from all over Europe.

Highlights are many and varied including the 1st sunset over the Kalahari at Bagatelle, hiking the Quiver Tree gorge, sand dunes at 1st light in Sossusvlei, Tommys Living Desert Tour, desert adapted elephants and lizards at Camp Kipwe, barbecued game at Taleni (our kids favourite meal), seeing 3 cheetah in Etosha, warthogs on the lawn at Mushara and the universally friendly people we met on our travels." "We had an excellently planned holiday, although we found it quite tiring towards the end of our three week stay.

The camps were mainly excellent and certainly as good as we had hoped. We had an unfortunate incident when my wife's bag was stolen from the car outside our guest house in Windhoek and the staff at Galton House couldn't have been more helpful, as were the head office staff at Wilderness Safaris in helping us resolve matters.

There is obviously quite a bit of crime in Windhoek (and possibly other towns) and travellers should be aware of this and keep their wits about them. We were identified as a target once we arrived in Windhoek while driving a hire car with South African number plates, followed, and then robbed outside our guest house in a quiet street with nobody else around. If my wife's handbag had been hidden in the back of the car or in the boot things may have been different.

"EA did a great job of making all part of our trip work smoothly and integrate well.

The only wrinkle was that we were doing Namibia and Botswana, so we worked with two different team members at EA who had experience in each country in the earlier phases of trip planning (good), but neither of them seemed to take responsibility for the overall trip (the wrinkle) until we asked them to figure it out and put one person in charge of pushing things forward." "We had a fantastic trip. Our first week was arranged by Expert Africa and the second week was spent at a hunting lodge. We had no notable problems from the time we left Atlanta until we returned. The 16 hour flight was not difficult (get economy comfort seats if possible) and we were able to easily adjust to the time changes. Water was safe to drink and the food was very good. People were friendly and many of them spoke good English. The animals in Etosha Park were amazing.

Probably the biggest challenge was driving on the "wrong" side of the road, shifting with my left hand, and turning on the windshield wipers instead of the turn signal! Most roads we traveled were paved and the gravel roads in the park were in good shape. Road signs, billboards, etc. are all in English. We traveled about 500 miles and driving yourself is easy. I highly recommend taking a car GPS and downloading the Tracks4Africa GPS map of Namibia (about $14.00 US). It was invaluable in getting around and knowing your arrival time at various destinations.

One issue was not having the most common power adapter. I had 3 sets, each with two adapters that "worked" in Africa. Although we could normally find one outlet that worked, none of the sets included the adapter that was most common. I think we needed a Type M (3 round pins in a triangular configuration).

We went to Africa prepared for the inevitable problems that we heard are common. However, we were very surprised and pleased with how smoothly everything went, especially considering that we stayed in 6 different places. "From our first meeting with Sabina we were confident that this very special trip was going to be one to remember. She quickly realised what we wanted from the trip and developed an itinerary which met or surpassed our expectations.

We are delighted with the quality of service provided by Expert Africa and their staff and are more than happy to recommend them to anyone making their first visit to Namibia.

We found the Bradt guides to be very informative and accurate - there was not much we wanted to know that was not contained within their pages. By the way, contrary to advice given, $200 notes were accepted everywhere!

"Excellent trip loved it.

Distances longer than expected - along very poor roads in many instances. Would have been useful to know which were gravel or tarmac. Some roads very bad for our VW Polo car. Thus very long journeys- yes I know it's Africa! Not sure whether a larger car would have helped but fellow travellers thought so

Nice and friendly Namibians. Very clean and comfortable accommodations everywhere.
