"Chikoko Tree Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 7 Aug 2009
"Lovely location and we particularly liked the design of the tree houses.

Pattersons's food was up to the standard of Crocodile.

We enjoyed all of the walks and saw plenty of wildlife" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia

"A great walking camp"

2 nights Arrived 4 Aug 2009
"Overlooking a flood plain creates many opportuntites for game viewing from camp, and particulalry the vantage point afforded by rooms on stilts. This is a well sited camp and the walks that break through to the Luangwa itself are stunning. Like Crocodile, this is bush camp perfection where the day starts and ends around an intimate camp fire, from bush tea to G&T, nothing beats this!

Rooms are a little whacky - so you may need to do stairs in the middle of the night to get down to the loo - but hey, you are here for adventure anyway!" See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Chikoko Tree Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 4 Aug 2009
"We only had one night here on 7th August. We swapped it for the 2 days in Crocodile to make our homeward journey easier, but again, loved it. In a lovely position to be able to watch animals and some lovely walks.

Cameron our guide, was very knowledgeable and great fun to be with. We became particularly fond of George, our tea bearer who taught Mike how to make fire without matches. Also our thanks go to our spotter, Emanuel, who looked after us very carefully and at no time did I feel any danger because he and Cameron knew exactly what to do when danger threatened." "A totally new experience"

2 nights Arrived 23 Jul 2009
"First class reception by the staff there and that continued during the whole of my time there.

Initially I was a little nervous in my chalet because of having to negotiate the stairs at night time to visit the Toilet but I soon appreciated this when I noticed how close I was to the animals." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Great walking and we managed to find something new and exciting on each Safari.

While obviously more remote than Tafika the service, food and the camp were just as good.

Could the holiday get better?
Excellent for all aspects................" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia

"first walking safari"

2 nights Arrived 23 Sep 2008
"We were greatly priviledged to be the sole occupants for 2 days here and 2 at Crocodile under the guidance of Isaac Zulu. We ate with him, walked with him and chatted /questioned him all the time. He never batted an eyelid and knew all the answers. We loved being able to talk not only about the animals, plants, droping, birds etc but in between about Zambian life in the villages and towns. His own interest in hiv+ women with families is very sensible and we hope the practical steps he is taking are helpful. He is too able to retire after 34 years guiding!

It feels safe to be walking with him as he sees ahead and takes care. His scout Saisi is first class - chatty and bright and with good eyesight. We loved his stories about his village life, and taled with him about the problems and few opportunities they have at present.
We did not much like the stairs at Chikoko which were a bit narrow at night, and the canvas roof keeps the heat in.
Brighton the tea maker is a character and we still have his laugh ringing in our ears.

I introduced a "high five" hand signal to complement the Zambia handshake when the staff did really well, so I am sorry if this is out of character for them." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"Excellent location on the rim of a seasonally abandoned river channel which attracts plenty of game. Nice rooms living upstairs is great.

Isaac the guide wonderful sense of humour. When asked about the baboon skull pinned up on the bar he retorts that is the last tourist who upset me!" See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Chikoko Tree Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 16 Aug 2008
"We spent three nights at Chikoko Tree Camp. The chalets are two storey and we thought that they were great. Our chalet was shaded by the trees but still afforded us a great view of the grassland in front of us.

There were a lot of animals close to the camp including elephant, antelope, zebra, giraffe and buffalo, not to mention the birds. We spent one morning walking to see eland and were successful. It took us about 5.5 hours (including tea stop) but was well worth it. Our guide, Stephen, was great. We sat and watched a herd of about 1000 buffalo walk close to us. We also saw hyena in the day and had a close encounter with some warthog!

The atmosphere at Chikoko was very relaxed. The food and service was great. It was a fabulous place to sit by the campfire in the evening and just look at the stars. We could have stayed here forever!" See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia
