"Great game at Kapani"

5 nights Arrived 11 Apr 2009
"We thoughly enjoyed our stay at Kapani - the staff and service could not have more friendly, and the whole place has a very welcoming feel. The food was excellent and the whole team worked hard to provide a customised service. The guiding was excellent, with some specacular sightings - including a pair of courting leopards.

The daily game viewing was very much influenced by the guests needs and interests. April was also an excellent time to go, as the light was excellent for photography and the seasonal roads were back in use, providing a wide area.

Other highlights were a cruise on the luangwa and meeting Robert - the semi-tame warthog. The only downside was the occasional noisy night guests - hippos munching loudly on grass and hyenas laughing outside the chalet in the very early hours!" See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"Our honeymoon in S. Luangwa Valley"

1 night Arrived 21 Mar 2009
"Kapani Lofge and Kakuli Bushcamp were great, a memorable experience, which exceeded our expectations. Simon is great guide, who takes enormous pride in his job; he is also a very pleasant guy. Christine is an excellent hostess. All personnel meets the highest standards of professionalism and kindness.
Three remarks:

1. Our mobiles were "dead" in Zambia. When we expressed our desire to contact our folks at home nobody seemed to properly care. We were not provided with access to the lodge's communication facilities. In our view that would be a rather "standard" service.

2. Walking safaries were less and shorther than anticipated.

3."Alternative" activities are not encouraged. After 4 nights at Kapani we felt that we had just enough of driving safaries and we would like to be presented with the possibility of something else, e.g. visiting local communities. For exemple, upon arrival in Tongabezi Lodge we were presented with a variety of activities and we organized our programme with the help of the relevant manager." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Kapani Lodge review"

4 nights Arrived 10 Dec 2008
"Kapani captures the essence of African safari visits of days gone by. Incredibly warm and plesant staff who truly make one feel welcomed and at home. We had one of the best guides I have ever had anywhere in Africa. The food and catering was also really very good indeed.

The facilities (rooms and bathrooms) were more basic/older than I had seen in - for example - some of the CC lodges in Bostwana, South Africa etc - but that is because Kapani was built some time ago and has not been extensively updated. That was not a problem for me personally. In fact, it added to the charm." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Thoughtfully they gave us a table to ourselves for the last night (having shared all previous meals with others).

Excellent guide (Rose).

Great area for seeing nearly all game in dry season.

Visiting at end of dry season meant no river/lagoon immediately outside the Lodge" See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"Great starting point"

2 nights Arrived 23 Sep 2008
"Spent 2 nights here which seemed just about right. Everything worked well. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. The camp had a really nice atmosphere as a reult.

Spotted 2 leopards on the first day so can't be bad! One beautiful male in daylight just resting in a sausage tree.

The food was simply excellent.

As someone mentioned earlier, the park can get a little crowded at night in this area but nothing compared with most other countries offering safaris. We felt this was 'real' Africa." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Kapani Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 16 Sep 2008
"The first dinner at Kipani was poor. The soup was lukewarm and the main course was cold.

A complaint resulted in a visit from the general manager next day and the evening meals did inmprove. The lunches were satisfactory.
The real test is would we visit Kipani again and i reget to say the answer is no.

In future we will go straight to the Coppingers and spend nore time there." See all these reviews: 6n in Zambia; 5n in Tanzania

"Final day"

1 night Arrived 10 Sep 2008
"Back with Diane and her team of cooks who must work 24 hour days! I was lucky enough to go out in the evening and the following morning with Innocent, and the morning game drive especially, with just the two of us, was magical. 10 giraffes even before getting to the park, then hundreds of buffalo in a wet dambo, followed by my first sighting since 1974 of massed Carmine Bee eaters, always with the sun in the right position for photos! And on the drive back a mile or so from camp, elephant just off the road in a final goodbye!

I have had many game drives in several countries over the years, but that one was truly memorable - thank you Innocent, and also for the samples for me to polish (I'll send you the photos!)" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia
