"Great family run camp with top class guiding"

4 nights Arrived 14 Sep 2014
"The 'centre' of Remote Africa this is an excellent camp run by very friendly and massively experienced staff. A mix of walking and driving safaris provided a huge range of experiences.

Maruska recommended this camp to us as she knew we really enjoyed family run camps from past safaris. Remote Africa really delivered at Tafika, Chikoko and Crocodile camps. The owners are all over the operations and the whole staff feel part of the one family. We met many guests who returned over many years.

Carol, Bryan, Rona and Heather run the camp like clockwork whilst always being around and very friendly. We had great drives with Bryan and Jenny. And walking with Alex and old hand Isaac was fabulous. We won't forget walking through the long grass searching for the growling lions around their buffalo kill.

Bryan excelled by finding wild dogs for us one night just before the ever necessary gin and tonic for sundown!

A return is essential!" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia; 3n in Rwanda; 2n in Kenya

"Tafika is one of our most favourite camps"

3 nights Arrived 30 Aug 2014
"It may not be as luxurious as some but does give a real taste of Africa and was our favourite in Zambia when we visited 6 years ago.

It is the only camp we have now stayed at twice and it is still our favourite. The owners are very friendly and love talking to all the guests as are all the rest of the staff. The food is wonderful and the guides are one of the best we have ever had in all the African countries we have visited.

I always do and still will highly recommend Tafika." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Excellent but different"

3 nights Arrived 30 Aug 2014
"Owners sharing meals with you made you feel you were a guest in their home but we felt there was a difference in attitude of camp staff, who seemed quite reserved. However our guides were excellent and Mcupe, again was very patient with our never ending requests to stop to photograph another roller .|Visit ti the village was enlightening.

Such a shame the micro light was not in operation ( could you have warned us about this,, as we had converted currency). Walks were not offered as a guide was ill either.

Food was excellent and varied especially the salads which came from there own garden, which was great to visit too. We also valued the hide." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

"Return to Tafika"

3 nights Arrived 27 Aug 2014
"Returning to Tafika after the bush camps and the welcome received made us feel at home.
Had requested a visit to the school to give some equipment and were treated to singing, dancing and poems. Although the school was on holiday teachers and pupils came in for us.Pleased we could help in some way. Continued visit it to village to learn more of their customs. A very worthwhile and humbling experience.
More birthday celebrations, cake and singing.
Excellent game drives and walking safari." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Fantastic safari at Tafika"

2 nights Arrived 23 Aug 2014
"Beautiful location, made very welcome on our arrival and got to meet 'family ' and staff. Excellent accommodation spacious and clean. You get used to the friendly frogs. Was concerned about insect bites but mosquito nets are very effective.

Being our first safari we were amazed at the number and variety of animals and birds that we saw. The observation skills and knowledge of all the guides is excellent.

Food is excellent, with very innovative vegetarian dishes. Toured the vegetable garden, interesting how they cope with watering, heat and monkeys.
Enjoyed the mountain bike ride with John, you need to be a reasonable cyclist." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Tafika review"

2 nights Arrived 14 Aug 2014
"Great camp well run by John & Carol and because of its 'wildness' we found much more enjoyable than the busy Mfuwe area.

Micro lighting was a repeat bonus for Valerie & I although we must comment on sparseness of the wildlife compared with ten years ago. Excellent hosts and a credit to the Park" See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Great food for such a remote location - the fresh produce from the garden was a real plus.

Highlight was three leopards in the same tree!

The mountain bike ride was fun and the walking safari was excellent.

We had a variety of different guides all with an excellent knowledge of birds as well as animals and other wildlife" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia; 2n in Zimbabwe

"great guiding at Tafika"

7 nights Arrived 20 Jul 2014
"We had a fantastic week at Tafika.

The guiding was exceptional - we enjoyed the time we spent with all of the guides but we particularly enjoyed our drives with Mukupa C as he is not only very knowledgeable but he also has a great sense of humour. We had dinner with the guides several times and enjoyed hearing their views and sharing their experiences. Great sightings including lots of leopards and ellies and some unusual birds. We did a walking safari and when we stopped for tea we saw about 50 ellies cross the river which was a highlight for me.

The rooms were lovely - great facilities and very comfy beds! The location is amazing - set on the river with great views of the hippos. Animals sometimes wander through the camp and we were fortunate to have 3 ellies outside our chalet one afternoon eating the tree! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and went to a lot of trouble to make our stay memorable.

We hope to return to Tafika :)" See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia
